Letterhead Poster Der Sturmer Newspaper Issue 1934 - German Der Stürmer Letterhead Correspondence, Nürnberg, Dated 20 November 1935 This is an original letterhead sheet issued from the offices of Der Stürmer, the antisemitic weekly newspaper founded and edited by Julius Streicher, printed with the paper's gothic masthead, its subtitle ”Deutsches Wochenblatt zum Kampfe um die Wahrheit, ” and contact details for its Nürnberg editorial and business offices. The letter itself is handwritten in German cursive, dated 20 November 1935, and closes with ”Heil Hitler!” followed by the printed ”Der Stürmer” imprint and a signature. Two small portrait sketches sit in the lower left corner, and the printed slogan strip running along the bottom margin reflects the paper's regular front-page tagline. Der Stürmer was among the most notorious propaganda organs of the Third Reich era, published from 1923 to 1945 and closely associated with the virulent antisemitic campaigns of the Nazi Party's Franconian Gauleiter, Julius Streicher. Correspondence on its letterhead, dated and signed as here, offers a direct documentary artifact of the paper's internal operations during the mid-1930s. Der Stürmer was a weekly newspaper founded and edited by Julius Streicher, published in Nuremberg from 1923 to 1945. It was a central organ of Nazi antisemitic propaganda, notorious for its virulent anti-Jewish caricatures and its recurring slogan ”Die Juden sind unser Unglück” (”The Jews are our misfortune”). Though not an official party publication, it circulated widely and was displayed publicly in glass cases known as Stürmerkästen, playing a significant role in disseminating racial hatred within German society during the Third Reich. Streicher was tried at Nuremberg after the war and executed in 1946 for crimes against humanity.
