Rudolf Hess Signed Photograph with Ink Signature from Family Estate - Vintage Photograph Signed by Rudolf Hess, from the Hess Family Estate A period black and white photograph depicting an outdoor terrace setting, with Hess in a dark sweater standing beside two people in white coats, and a draped lounger in the foreground. A bold ink signature reading ”R. Hess” appears across the lower portion of the image. The photograph is from the Hess family estate. Rudolf Hess served as Adolf Hitler's Deputy Führer in the Nazi Party from 1933 until his solo flight to Scotland in May 1941, an unauthorised attempt to broker peace with Britain that resulted in his capture and imprisonment for the remainder of the war. He was subsequently tried at Nuremberg in 1946, convicted of crimes against peace and conspiracy, and sentenced to life imprisonment at Spandau Prison in Berlin, where he remained the sole inmate for much of his later life until his death in 1987. Photographs and signatures deriving from family provenance are among the more commonly circulated Hess-related items, reflecting the enduring collector interest in his singular and unresolved historical role.
