NSDAP Golden Party Badge (Goldenes Ehrenzeichen) by Deschler & Sohn, Numbered 6705 - A gilt wreath-bordered party badge with an enameled center in red, white, and black bearing the swastika device and the lettering ”NATIONAL-SOZIALISTISCHE D.A.P.” The reverse is marked ”GES. GESCH.”, ”DESCHLER & SOHN MÜNCHEN 9”, and stamped with the number 6705. Accompanying the badge is a set of research documents, including copies of membership record cards, identifying member number 6705 as Conrad (Konrad) Gutgesell, born 17.8.1887 in Schney, Oberfranken, a postal inspector (Postinspektor) who joined the party on 29 May 1925 and resided in Nürnberg, Erfurt, and Magdeburg at various times. The Golden Party Badge (Goldenes Ehrenzeichen der NSDAP) was awarded to holders of the lowest membership numbers, generally those who had joined the party before its 1925 refounding or who received it as a personal gift from Hitler for long or distinguished service. Deschler & Sohn of Munich was one of the principal manufacturers of NSDAP insignia, producing badges under official party contract. Membership number 6705, corresponding to Conrad Gutgesell's re-entry into the refounded party on 29 May 1925, places him among the early adherents whose low numbers made them eligible for this distinction; as a Postinspektor, he represents the class of civil servants who filled the party's ranks during the Weimar-era period of reorganization following its 1923 ban.
