The Golden Party Badge (Goldenes Parteiabzeichen) was awarded to early or particularly distinguished NSDAP members, typically those holding membership numbers under 100,000 or recognized by Hitler personally for service to the party; by the postwar period it was strongly associated with the movement's senior functionaries. The 1929 Nuremberg Reichsparteitag was the fourth NSDAP rally, held in the city that would become the party's permanent rally venue from 1933 onward, marking a period of the movement's growth before its seizure of power in 1933. The accompanying service medal and insignia reflect the broader system of decorations the party used to recognize longstanding membership and organizational service during the Third Reich era.
