Mussar. Sefer HaYashar attributed to Rabbeinu Tam. Yerushalayim, 1864.

Sefer HaYashar - Mussar regarding Emunah and avodas Hashem, attributed to Rabbeinu Tam

The Sefer HaYashar was a popular, beloved work throughout the Diaspora, and it was printed in dozens of editions. Back in the era of the Rishonim, Rabbeinu Yehudah ben HaRosh wrote, "Habituate yourselves to learn the Chovos HaLevavos and Sefer HaYashar" ( Tzavat Rabbi Yehudah ben HaRosh, Pressburg, 1885, p. 11.)

The work was erroneously attributed to Rabbeinu Tam, as noted on the title page. The error apparently stemmed from Rabbeinu Tam's halachic work named Sefer HaYashar. Some attribute this work to Rav Zerachya HaLevi, others attribute it to Rabbeinu Yonah, author of the Shaarei Teshuvah, however mekubel Rav Menachem di Lonzano wrote that it was written by Rav Zerachyah HaYevani, and the Chida agreed with him (Refer to Shem HaGedolim, entry on Rav Zerachya HaYevani).
