Lithuanian Torah Giants. Rare letter from Rabbi Aharon Kotler. Yanova, [1940] Rare letter from Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Aharon Kotler, written as the yeshivah fled at the start of the Second World War. When the Second World War broke out, the Kletzk Yeshivah, headed by Rabbi Aharon Kotler, fled to Vilna. However, persecution by the Bolsheviks forced them to flee again to Yanova, near Kovno. Rav Aharon sent this letter from Yanova begging for help for the yeshivah. He writes: Even in these hard times, the Yeshivah students continue learning with tremendous diligence. Rabbi Aharon Kotler (1892-1963), author of Mishnas Rabbi Aharon , was one of the most prominent Lithuanian roshei yeshivah in the era of the Holocaust. He established the post-Holocaust Torah world in America. He worked tirelessly to rehabilitate the yeshivah world after the war, was a leader of the Torah world and nasi of the Agudath Harabonim in the United States. ******* Yanova, 4th of Av, [1940].
