Achronim – Halachah. Comments and sources in the hand of Rabbi Refael Ashkenazi av”d Izmir, on the Sefer Yad Aharon. Constantinople, [1735] Yad Aharon on the Tur and Beis Yosef Orech Chaim (like the Sefer Knesses HaGedolah) by Rabbi Aharon Alfandri av”d Izmir and Chevron. Printed at the end of the work (34 leaves), references to Achronim on Gemara, poskim and Tosfos and more. The margins of these pages are filled with many dozens of additions and expert references by Rabbi Refael Ashkenazi av”d Izmir, as verified by comparing these comments to his own work, Mareh Einyaim (Salonica, 1816). Rabbi Refael Ashkenazi (d. 1825) was the rav of Izmir. He was the son of Rabbi Yehudah Ashkenazi, author of Machaneh Yehudah and other seforim. Rabbi Chaim Palaji wrote about him: ”The crown of our heads, the light of our eyes, moreinu v'rabbeinu the angel Refael…king of Israel…” (Chelkam B'Chai, Drush 2).
