Halachic discussion probing two sides of a question, in the hand of Rabbi Shalom Gutman, av”d Jassy to Rabbi Shmuel Salant. The Rav and chassid, Rabbi Shalom Gutman av”d Jassy, (1867-1929), was rabbi of Jassy for 35 years. He was the son of Rabbi Yisroel Gutman av”d Jassy and an uncle of Rabbi Yisroel of Ruzhin. He was a descendant of the Besht and other chassidic greats (as detailed in his signature in this letter). He published his father’s work, Beis Yisroel, with a lot of his own supplements. Rabbi Shmuel Salant’s response to this question was printed in Toras Rabbeinu Shmuel , section two, siman 69. Jassy, 1901. Leaf: 23x29 cm.
