Mid-20th Century Ceramic Piggy Bank - Shawnee Pottery. A mid-20th-century glazed ceramic anthropomorphic piggy bank, modeled after the Smiley Pig character. The figure is depicted standing and wearing a red bowtie, a blue and white checkered shirt, a red ruffled waist, and blue pants. A yellow shoulder bag is slung under the right arm. The bank features hand-painted facial details with prominent eyelashes and a coin slot at the crown of the head. Indistinct incised markings are present on the reverse lower portion of the red bodice but are not clearly legible.
