The work was published between 1821 and 1828 by Jacob and Johnson in Winchester, England. The work is in 11 volumes bound in 10 featuring 193 originally hand-colored etchings after Latham. The work is bound in full brown leather, gold gilt border to each board with embossed emblem, spine with 5 raised bands and gold gilt lettering and lines. John Latham (1740-1837) was an English medical doctor, naturalist, and author. He has been called the grandfather of Australian ornithology as he named a large variety of Australian native birds.
