The work was published in 1794 in Dublin by William Porter, for P. Wogan, P. Byrne, W. Porter, W. Jones, J. Rice, and N. Kelly. The map was engraved by Thomas Conder. 5 Thomas Cooper (1759-1838) was an Anglo-American polymath, philosopher, and economist. Thomas Jefferson referred to him as ”one of the ablest men in America” and John Adams called him ”a learned ingenious scientific and talented madcap.” He served briefly as a judge in Pennsylvania, bur predominantly focused his career in academia.
