Beauvoir's Australia - Volume with 2 Maps & 2 Original Photographs - This fine volume is Ludovic Herbert de Beauvoir's Australie or Australia . It was published in Paris in 1869 by Henri Plon. The work is bound in contemporary red half-shagreen, spine with raised bands and gilt ornamentation. There are two hand-colored fold out maps in lithograph. There are two original photographs of aborigines (with portrait of King Tatambo as the frontispiece). The photographs would be replaced by engravings in later editions. Ludovic Hebert de Beauvoir (1846-1929) was a French explorer and author. “The author reached Melbourne in 1866.
