Jardine's Hummingbirds - Two Volumes with 63 Originally Hand-colored Engravings - These two volumes on hummingbirds are a part of Sir William Jardine’s Naturalist’s Library Ornithology . They were published in Edinburgh in 1843 by W. H. Lizars. Both volumes are bound with brown cloth with an embossed cover and gold gilt design and lettering to spines. Volume 1 (or 14) includes a portrait of Linneaus and a short description of his works, biography, and other facts about him. This volume includes 33 plates. Volume 2 (or 15) includes a portrait of Pennant and a short description of his works, biography, and other facts about him, and includes 30 plates. Sir William Jardine (1800-1874) was a talented Scottish naturalist. Some of his original work is in the London Natural History Museum and the Royal Scottish Museum.
