The map was published in Paris circa 1725. The map features original outline hand-coloring. Pierre Moullart-Sanson was a French royal geographer that inherited the workshop and archives of his maternal uncles, Nicholas & Guillaume Sanson (Fathers of French Cartography). The map pre-dates the discoveries of Captain Cook and shows the Europeans understanding of the Southern Hemisphere at the time with New Holland (Australia) shown in partial outline.
