Veitz - 6 Botanical Engravings
This exceptionally rare, originally hand-colored engraving is from Ferdinand Bernhard Vietz's Icones plantarum medico-oeconomico-technologicarum. The work was published in Vienna from 1800 to 1822.

Vietz was the artist and engraver for the work. He was an Austrian physician and Doctor of Medicine. The work was published at the beginning of the Biedermier period. It took influence from the works of Blackwell, Weinmann, Zorn, and Woodville.

The publications is considered exceptionally rare, noting: "Today, the work appears to be of extreme rarity, not being held in any other of the United Kingdom's national or public library collections. Only three copies have been found in North American libraries, of which two are certainly fragile and in need of conservation. One copy is in the Austrian National Library." (Great Flower Books (1990) p. 147; British Natural History Museum)

Paper Size: ~ 7 1/4" by 9 1/2"

The work is in very good to excellent condition overall. There may be a few minor imperfections to be expected with age. Please review the image carefully for condition and contact us with any questions.
