Vallet & Robin - 3 Botanical Engravings: Lily, Iris - Pierre Vallet's Le Jardin du Roy is known for its highly desirable collection of strikingly detailed, artistic engravings. Vallet collaborated with noted botanist Jean Robin who held the position of director of the Royal Gardens of the Louvre for Henri III, Henry IV, and Louis XIII. It was published in Paris in 1623. The engravings have been emulated and copied by later botanical artists such as Theodore de Bry. This work greatly influenced the manner in which subsequent botanical illustration was executed, leading many to consider it the first important florilegum .
