This engraving is from John Oxley's Reizen door de binnenlanden van Australië, in de jaren 1817 en 1818 or Traveling through the interior of Australia, in the years 1817 and 1818 It was published Dordrecht by Blusse en Van Braam in 1821. The engraving was done by J. C. Bensdorp. It was first published in London in 1820.

The map is from the rare first and likely only Dutch translation of John Oxley's journals detailing his expeditions into the interior of New South Wales. John Joseph William Molesworth Oxley (1784–1828) was an English explorer. He served in the Navy from the age of 15. He travelled to Australia and served as the Surveyor General of New South Wales.
