The work was published in 1796 in Edinburgh by R. Morison & Son. Robert Heron (1764-1807) was a Scottish writer. He attended the University of Edinburgh in 1780 where he supported his studies working for booksellers. He went to jail as a debtor, but released when he began to write History of Scotland .
