WWI Spirit of the American Doughboy E.M. Viquesney statue converted into lamp award
WWI Spirit of the American Doughboy E.M. Viquesney bronzed white metal statue converted into lamp and award. This bronze is in good condition and the later attached wood base has a plaque that reads, Presented by American Legion Kings County to Brookrich Rifle Assn. The doughboy is missing his left hand and the rifle that was attached to it, it isn't broken off as it looks to be a separate piece that fell off and got lost at some point, the right hand has been broken off and reattached but not as vertical as it originally would have been. He was supposed to be depicted as throwing a hand grenade but now has a lamp shell attached to his raised hand that includes a fantastic vintage period lamp depicting a burning torch that is marked Austria. It measures 18 1/2 inches tall to the tip of the light bulb it currently has, just the bronze is just over 11 1/2 inches tall. The back side of the base where the wire goes in is marked Copyrighted by EM Viquesney Sculptor Americus, Georgia.
