A halachic response from Rabbi Elazar Lev of Uhel and Ungvar, - Letters from the Gaon are exceedingly rare, and specifically full responses in his handwriting. This one is without his signature.  This response was written to his talmid Rabbi Elazar Segal Grunhut. Rabbi Elazar Lev, the Baal Pekudas Elazar, was a son of Rabbi Yirmiyahu Lev of Uhel. He took over his father's place for 12 years and then continued on to Ungvar, where he had many talmidim. Many distinguished families branch out of this Gaon, including Silberstein, Glick, and Klein.
