Sefer Chareidim by Rabbi Elazar Azikri, Zhitomer 1857 - Rabbi Elazar Azikri, a Mekubal and poet, wrote Sefer Chareidim.  It was printed in Zhitomer in 1857 by the grandchildren of the Rabbi of Slavita, Rabbi Chanina Lipa and Yehoshua Heshil Spira. He was born in Tzfas to a Sephardic family who had settled in Ottoman Syria after the expulsion of Jews from Spain. He studied Torah in the yeshiva of Rabbi Moshe Cordovero. He is counted among the greatest Rabbis and intellectuals of his time: Rabbi Shlomo Halevi Alkabetz, Rabbi Yosef Karo, Rabbi Moshe Cordovero, and Rabbi Isaac Luria, the Ari. In 1588, Rabbi Elazar founded the ”Sukas Shalom” movement, which acted to arouse Jews's devotion to religion. His Sefer Charedim - blends a halachic enumeration of the 613 commandments with Kabbalistic ethics and is one of the central works of its genre.
