A handwritten page by Rabbi Pinchas Halevi Horowitz, the ”Baal Haflaah”- never printed. - A double-sided handwritten page, containing 25-30 lines per side, written by Rabbi Pinchas Halevi Horowitz, who was the Rabbi of Frankfurt am Main, known as the ”Baal Haflaah”. Despite being a Rabbi and an author of many books, the content on this particular page was never published, and it seems to be exclusively from a volume that belongs to Rabbi Ephraim Zalman Horowitz Mkamarna, a great-grandson of the Baal Haflaah. Rabbi Sender Chaim Mkazava, the publisher of the book, states in the introduction that Rabbi Ephraim Zalman provided him with the manuscript to copy for publishing purposes. However, the publisher mainly copied and printed the halachic matters of ”Orach Chaim” and ”Yorah Deah” that were included in the manuscript. He also mentioned in his preface the Chidushim on Shas that appear in the manuscript and expressed the hope of publishing them. Unfortunately, they are still not printed. Rabbi Pinchas HaLevi Ish Horwitz, the Baal Haflaah, started his career as a Rabbi in Vitkov and Lechovitz as a young man. Later on, he became a Rabbi in Frankfurt am Main, which was the biggest Torah center in Germany back then. He served as a Rabbi for more than thirty-three years until his death. He had many students in his yeshiva, one of whom was the Gadol Byisroel the Chasam Sofer. Before he arrived in Frankfurt, Rabbi Pinchas, together with his brother Rabbi Shmelka of Niklesburg, stayed for several weeks with the Maggid of Mezritch. There they received Torah secrets from the Maggid and his great disciples. In his Sefer ”Panim Yafot”, some elements of the Torah of the Maggid of Mezritch are presented. During his short stay with the Maggid, the Baal Haflaah befriended several of the Maggid's students, including the Ba'al HaTanya, Rabbi Zisha of Anipoli, and Rabbi Avraham of Kalisk. In a letter to him, the Baal Hatanya addressed him in exemplary terms, calling him a light of Yisroel, a chasid, a parish, a model of the dor, and a holy man of Hkbh. The Baal Haflaah was a prolific author, and he wrote many innovations on all parts of the Torah and most of the tractates of the Shas. He named his books ”Haflaah”. The authenticity of the page is confirmed by Rabbi Shmerel Zitronenbaum, who is an expert on the topic.
