Sefer Derech Pekidecha-Lvov, 1851.First edition. - Sefer Derech Pekidecha on the 613 Mitzvos, by Rabbi Zvi Elimelech Shapira of Dinov, author of the ”Bnei Yisoschor”. Lvov, Franz Galinski printing house, 1851. First edition. Rabbi Zvi Elimelech Shapira (1783-1841) was a celebrated Chasidic leader who studied under Rabbi Mendele Mriminov and the Choza of Lublin. He was also a pupil of the ”Ohav Yisrael” of Apta and the Magid of Koznitz. From a young age, Rabbi Shapira served as a Rabbi in various towns in Galicia and in the city of Munkacs. However, he is most well-known for his leadership as a Rabbi in Dinov, where he became a rebbe in 1815.  He composed dozens of works on Halacha and Agada, Chassidus and Kabbalah. His most well-known work in the Klal Yisroel is the Sefer ”Bnei Yissachar”. Many dynasties of rebbes came from his descendants, including Dinov, Munkacs, Bukavsk, and more. In this essay, each of the 613 Mitzvos is explained in three ways. It introduces the concept that a mitzvah in Yiddishkeit has three parts: the action part, which includes the general and specific laws; the speech part, which involves innovations in the way one does the mitzvah; and the thought part, which delves into the inner meanings and interpretations.   The Sefer “Derech Pekidecha” was received with great enthusiasm in Jewish communities globally. The seforim of many great Rabbis of Poland and Lithuania cite it, and it is still mentioned today. The ”Imrei Yosef” of Spinka said ”that the first deep, spiritual awakening he had to the work on his Avodas Hashem came to him by studying this very Sefer (Preface to his Sefer ”Imrei Yosef”).
