Post Medieval Silver Bosun's Whistle with Arrow Mark - 19th-20th century AD A silver bosun's whistle with cranked narrow pipe, flange to the underside, bowl with ribbed lateral surfaces and incised 'King's broad arrow'. 24 grams, 12cm (4 3/4”). Fine condition. Provenance Property of a gentleman; acquired in the 1970s. Footnotes The 'King's broad arrow' was a marker of three notches cut into timber identified for use by the Royal Navy. It occasionally occurs on other naval items, as here.
