Indus Valley Wheel Model or Seal Matrix - 12th-8th century BC A serpentine model wheel with felloe and spoke details to one face; accompanied by an old scholarly note, typed and signed by W.G. Lambert, late Professor of Assyriology, University of Birmingham, 1970-1993, which states: 'Model Stone Wheel 74 x 75 x 8mm, This is round with flat sides: the inner side plain, the outer side with a groove around the edge and within that 18 spokes emanating from the central hole. This no doubt comes from a large model chariot or wagon, the cab no doubt of metal, but the wheels of stone. It is not easy to give a precise date or location to the wheel, but somewhere from Anatolia to west Iran is the likely area, and a period c. 1200-800 B,C. id the most likely time. The wheel is little chipped around the edges, but is otherwise in good condition.' 81 grams, 74mm (3”). Fine condition.
