Roman Legion IV Mount - 1st century AD A bronze almond-shaped mount, inscribed with 'LEG IV' to the upper face, two fixing studs to the underside. 13.6 grams, 41mm (1 3/4”). Fine condition. [No Reserve] Provenance Private collection, UK; formed in the 1980s. Footnotes LEG IV of Macedonia was a legion of the Imperial Roman army founded in 48 BC by Gaius Julius Caesar with Italian legionaries, and was disbanded in AD 70 by Emperor Vespasian. The legion symbols were a bull and a capricorn.
