Greek Bust of Demeter - 4th century BC The female bust of the goddess Demeter(?), a stucco protome with narrow face, aquiline nose, small mouth, thick curly hair parted in the centre; hole to the reverse of the head, tubular feature above with thickened lip, one with slot to the reverse of the shoulders. 1.5 kg total, 29cm (11 1/2”). Fine condition, restored. Provenance From the private collection of A L; formerly with Gorny & Mosch, Muncich, auction 235, lot 490; acquired before 1998; accompanied by copies of the relevant Gorny & Mosch catalogue pages.
