Cypro-Phoenician Monumental Female Statuette - 1st millennium BC A terracotta statuette of a standing nude female with left hand resting on the midriff, elaborate slashed headdress and pierced ears, bulging lentoid eyes and pinched nose, slashed collar and belt; right hand forming a cup or scoop (to accept libations?); mounted on a custom-made stand. 1.5 kg, 37.5cm including stand (14 3/4”). Very fine condition, scoop restored. Provenance On the US art market, 1990s; formerly on the German art market, 2011; previously with Pierre Bergé & Associés, Archéologie, Paris, 16 December 2015, Lot 166 (14,000-16,000 euros); accompanied by copies of the relevant Pierre Bergé catalogue pages, copy of Art Loss Register certificate report number S00122251 and a copy of the thermoluminescence analysis report by Laboratory Ralf Kotalla dated 18 March 2011.
