לאחר סדרת קופסאות קק"ל בלתי אחידות, נבחרה בשנת 1934 כקופסה הרשמית של קק"ל, "הקופסה החדשה", המאוירת עם עם מפת ההתישבת היהודית בארץ ישראל, דגל התנועה הציונית והלוגו של קק"ל. בין מלחמות העולם הופצו בקהילות היהודית ברחבי העולם יותר ממליון קופסאות, ורבים נהג לשלשל לתכן מטבעות מידי יום שישי, כתרומה לגאולת הארץ ולבניינה וכאמצעי חינוכי לחיזוק הקשר בין העם היהודי וארץ מולדתו ההיסטורית.
