Bidspirit auction | A large famille rose 'bird

A large famille rose 'bird and flower' punch bowl, mid-20th century or later - A Hong Kong-decorated Chinese porcelain punch bowl featuring a deep circular form and a slightly flared rim. The piece is finished in the famille rose palette against a white ground. The interior center is decorated with a medallion depicting a long-tailed bird perched on a flowering branch surrounded by blossoms. This central motif is enclosed by a border of alternating lobed cartouches containing bird-and-flower scenes and individual floral sprays. The exterior body continues this theme with similar cartouches separated by ornate scrolling green and pink motifs set against a gilded background. Bright gilding is also applied to the rim. The bowl sits on a short, unglazed foot rim with a glazed base. The base features a square red-stamped seal mark in stylized script, which is an apocryphal rendition of a Qianlong reign mark. Adjacent to the stamp is a circular white paper label with a black border reading DECORATED IN HONG KONG surrounding four Chinese characters. A secondary, partial oval gold foil label is also present on the base.
