900 silver coin. Jerusalem, Independence Day coin (1968). 20 years of the State of Israel, with Imprint 'M'. Face value: 10 Israeli pounds, diameter: 37 mm, weight: 26 grams.
ירושלים, מטבע יום העצמאות תשכ"ח, כ' למדינה, 1968
שש מאות וחמישים ושש פעמים נזכרת ירושלים במקרא. ירושלים עיר הקודש מהווה אבן יסוד בהוויה היהודית – "אם אשכחך ירושלים, תשכח ימיני" נשבעו יהודים לציון. "גלו ישראל, גלתה ירושלים עמהם" נאמר ב"מסכת דרך ארץ זוטא". במשך 1900 שנות גלות לא פסקה הערגה "בשנה הבאה בירושלים". אחרי מלחמת העצמאות הייתה ירושלים חצויה בין ישראל וירדן במשך תשע עשרה שנים. במלחמת ששת הימים שיחרר צה"ל את הרובעים שהיו כבושים בידי צבא האויב. ירושלים הייתה שוב לעיר אחת תחת שלטון ישראל, הבירה הנצחית של המדינה.
פני המטבע:
הערך הנקוב – "10 לירות ישראליות" במטבע הכסף ו- "100 לירות ישראליות" במטבע הזהב. תעתיק מן המטבע העתיק סלע בר-כוכבא שבו מופיעים ארבעת השערים (המשוערים) של בית-המקדש. השנה "תשכ"ח 1968".
גב המטבע:
פנורמה של ירושלים השלמה, וסמל המדינה.
היקף:
"שנת כ' למדינת ישראל" הכתובת בכיוון גב המטבע.
היקף מטבע הזהב – מחורץ.
סימן טביעה:
האות "מ" על פני מטבע הכסף הקשוט, במרכז השפה התחתונה.
האות "מ" אינה מופיעה על פני מטבע הזהב.
עיצוב: יעקב צים.
מיטבעה: המיטבעה הפדרלית השוויצרית בברן.
