Emerson, Daudet, and Chekhov. The Works of... Three Volumes. Walter J. Black, Inc., circa 1930. - This lot consists of three uniform volumes from the collected works series published by Walter J. Black, Inc. The set includes The Works of Emerson, The Works of Daudet, and The Works of Chekhov. Each octavo-sized book is bound in dark brown flexible leather with decorative gilt-stamped spines. The spines are divided into panels by gilt rules, featuring a repeating floret and lattice pattern alongside the author and title. The front boards are decorated with a centrally impressed heraldic shield surmounted by a crown, accented with small green and red polychrome dots. This central motif is framed by a scrolled foliate border that includes additional green and red highlights. The text blocks feature edges that have toned over time.
