Scott, Sir Walter and Washington Irving. Three Leather-Bound Volumes. Fields, Osgood, & Co., 1870. - A trio of 19th-century leather-bound volumes featuring works by Sir Walter Scott and Washington Irving. The group includes two volumes from the Waverley Novels series, titled Rob Roy and The Pirate, alongside Volume VI of Irving's Works, containing Life of Columbus. The books are bound in brown leather featuring decorative gilt-tooled spines with raised bands and contrasting title labels in maroon and black. The title page for The Pirate identifies it as the Illustrated Library Edition, comprising two volumes in one, published in Boston by Fields, Osgood, and Company, successors to Ticknor and Fields, in 1870. The volumes feature marbled endpapers and the interior pages show typical age-related toning. A purple metal paperclip is attached to a flyleaf in the opened volume.
