Antique Rectangular Glass-Under-Label Apothecary Jar with Original Stopper - This antique pharmaceutical shop jar is constructed of clear glass with a rectangular section, rounded corners, and sloping shoulders. The front of the bottle features a recessed area for a glass-under-label, a decorative and functional technique where a printed label is applied to the jar and protected by a thin, curved glass cover. The label bears the inscription P.GLYCYRRH.C. in black serifed capital letters, an abbreviation for Pulvis Glycyrrhizae Compositus, known as Compound Licorice Powder. The label is designed with a cream-colored background, fine black ray motifs in each corner, and is framed by a multi-colored border of gold, green, and red. The jar includes its original ground glass mushroom-shaped stopper, which fits securely into the ground glass neck. No maker's marks are visible on the bottle or stopper.
