Whitall Tatum and Company Glass Apothecary Shelf Bottle with Stopper - This American glass apothecary shelf bottle is constructed from clear mold-blown glass with a rectangular footprint and rounded shoulders. It features a recessed glass-covered apothecary label, reverse-painted with black lettering on a cream-colored ground reading SP.ÆTH.NIT. The label is decorated with geometric sunburst motifs in the corners and bordered by thin gold and red lines. The bottle is fitted with its original ground-glass stopper, which has a flat, disc-shaped finial. The base of the bottle bears embossed marks including W. T. & CO. in an upper arc, U. S. A. in a lower arc, and PAT. JAN. 5. 1892 in the center, identifying the maker as Whitall Tatum and Company. Slight chip on top rim. Total height: 10.25 inches Width: 3.5 inches.
