Colonial Williamsburg Restoration Redware Feathered Slipware Charger - This large redware charger is an authorized reproduction produced for the Colonial Williamsburg Restoration program. The piece is constructed from a terracotta-colored earthenware body. The interior surface is finished with a dark chocolate brown manganese-type lead glaze. It is decorated with a creamy yellow slip applied in parallel lines and combed to create a traditional 18th-century style feathered or marbled pattern. The rim features a cabled or pie-crust edge consisting of regularly spaced thumb-impressed notches. The unglazed base bears an impressed circular mark containing the words WILLIAMSBURG RESTORATION circling a stylized cipher with the numeral 4, a vertical cross, the letters C and W, two X characters, and a registered trademark symbol.
