American Painted Wooden and Sheet Metal Ice Fishing Decoy - A hand-carved folk art ice fishing decoy, also known as a spearing decoy. The streamlined wooden body is finished in a gray base paint decorated with mottled, irregular spots in shades of orange, yellow, and red. It features two rounded sheet metal pectoral fins and a forked sheet metal tail inserted into the wooden form. A small metal eyelet is screwed into the dorsal side for suspension. The snout is detailed with black paint. No maker signatures or identification marks are present on the piece. Length: 7 3/4 inches.
