Glenn Appleman Yazoo Taxi Ceramic Cookie Jar, 1978 - A glazed earthenware cookie jar by ceramic artist Glenn Appleman, modeled as a stylized vintage yellow taxi cab. The piece is finished in a vibrant yellow glaze with hand-painted and decal details, including Sids RADIO TAXI and YAZOO 2-2222 on the doors. Whimsical elements include I LIKE IKE bumper stickers and a NIGHT OWL SERVICE owl logo. The front grille, bumpers, and hubcaps are finished in a reflective metallic silver-tone glaze. The upper portion of the car cabin is removable to serve as a lid. The base is hand-signed Apple 1978 alongside a stylized apple drawing. The underside of the lid is incised S 207. The lot includes the original gold foil hangtag. 16 inches (Length) 8.5 inches (Height to top of taxi light).
