Authored by Jewish-German Rabbi, poet and essayist Naphtali Herz Wessely, who was among the perpetrators of the Jewish enlightenment movement (Haskalah). Half leather, leather edges, marmorial hardcover. Pen inscription on front cover in German from 1843. Pen Inscription in Hebrew on front endpaper and pencil inscription Cover worn, rubbed to edges, bumped to corners, peeling. Spine worn, rubbed, tear to hinge ( ca.4cm.) Spine edges bumped, upper edge chipped (ca.0.7cm.) Pages yellowing. Ca. 1/3 pages with damping stains to upper right corner. Some pages with light foxing ( according to the age).
