Max Bilen, born Boton Max on October 16, 1916 in Thessaloniki (Greece) and died in 1995, is a journalist, writer, poet and professor of French literature. After high school in Galatasaray, Max Bilen pursued higher studies in philosophy (Prof. Hans Reichenbach) and French letters (Prof. Erich Auerbach) at the Faculty of Letters of Istanbul University. He began his literary career as a journalist, translator at the Journal d'Orient in Istanbul (he published an anthology of Turkish poetry (in) in the Journal des Poètes de Bruxelles) and frequented the literary milieu of the former Ottoman capital. He was then director of the Jewish high school in Istanbul (1947-1949) and teacher of French. He was then director of the press office of the Israeli legation in Turkey (1951-1958) and press adviser to the Union of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Turkey (fr).
