Detailed pastoral scene depicting a young shepherd boy seated on a tree stump playing a pipe flute, flanked by a black and white herding dog and a small flock of five resting sheep against a rustic wooden fence. Ernst Bohne (German, 1811-1856) founded his eponymous company as a decorating studio in 1848 in Rudolstadt-Volkstedt, Germany, which was subsequently renamed Ernst Bohne Sohne after his death when his three sons expanded the workshop into a globally recognized producer of luxury figurines, character steins, and fine art porcelain.
