Gerbing & Stephan Art Nouveau Majolica Lily Vase - Item/Description: Austrian Art Nouveau earthenware majolica vase manufactured by the renowned firm, Gerbing & Stephan in Bodenbach, Bohemia or Podmokly, Czech Republic. Baluster-form vessel featuring a hand-painted mottled gray-blue textured ground adorned with a bold, relief-molded pink and magenta water lily blossoms. Flanked by twin stylized openwork dolphin or fish handles. The Gerbing & Stephan factory was an acclaimed Central European ceramics workshop operating under this moniker from 1861 until its closure in the early 20th century, highly celebrated for its mastery of richly modeled terracotta, deep-relief majolica finishes, and avant-garde Secessionist decorative wares.
