Chase Copper & Bakelite Napkin Holder - Item/Description: Machine Age tabletop napkin holder designed by industrial designer, Walter von Nessen for the Chase Brass & Copper Company. Piece features a trough-shaped copper sheet body elevated on four spherical brass ball feet, equipped with a pivoting butterscotch Bakelite arch handle and an interior curved wire tension bar mechanism that uses a heavy brass ball weight to secure napkins flat. Walter von Nessen (1889-1943) was an influential German-American industrial designer who established Nessen Studios in New York City, celebrated for introducing streamlined, machine-age materials and sleek, geometric functionality into modern American kitchenware and lighting lines.
