American ”Nineteen Hundred” Manual Washing Machine - Item/Description: ”1900 Washer” manual washing machine consisting of a coopered wooden stave tub reinforced with iron tension bands and mounted on four splayed support legs. Flat wooden lid features an integrated central handle, while a side-mounted wooden and cast-iron crank arm drives the internal agitation mechanism. Iron bands marked ”1900 Washer”. The ”1900 Washer” brand of washing machines was launched by businessman Thomas Burr Crary, who co-founded The 1900 Washer Company alongside local investors in late 1898 in Binghamton, New York.
