Abraham Begay Navajo Sterling Lapis Drop Earrings - Item/Description: Outstanding pair of pierced drop earrings by Navajo artist, Abraham Begay. Hand-crafted in Sterling Silver in geometric shapes. Elongated open ovals with carved geometric designs and anodized background. Seamlessly attached at the top to triangles with raised mountings set with deep navy lapis lazuli stones accented with silver inlay. Shepherd's hook ear wires with ball accents. Hallmarked: Abraham Begay Sterling. Abraham Begay is considered among the top contemporary Navajo silversmiths of the 20th Century and most recognized for his distinct lapidary work. His pieces typically incorporate natural stones including turquoise, coral and lapis lazuli: each significant to the Navajo culture. Born in 1953 in Ganado, Arizona, Begay has been making jewelry since the 1970s. Having grown up in a renowned family of silversmiths, he credits his upbringing and family for inspiring him and shaping his artistry.
