Sterling Inlaid Abalone Jewelry Lot - Mexico - Item/Description: Three piece Mexican Sterling Silver and inlaid abalone shell lot includes a large circular brooch pendant and screw back figural leaf earrings. Though gleaned from the same estate, the earrings and brooch are hand-crafted by different Mexican silversmiths from the same era. The brooch pendant showcases an Aztec design and inlaid with glowing iridescent abalone shell. Mosaic. Abstract. Straight pin roll over closure and fixed soldered loop allow this piece to be worn as a pin or necklace pendant. Hallmarked: Mexico JPN (?) 925. The earrings are curved leaves with delicate veining and stems. Seamlessly inlaid with abalone shell. Screw back closures. Multiple Hallmarks (difficult to discern, worn) include: Sterling, 925, Cuernavaca, illegible maker's mark. Material: Sterling Silver, Abalone Dimensions Brooch: Length: 2 1/8”; Width: 2 1/8”; approximately 11.8 grams. Dimensions Earrings: Length: 1 1/4”; Width: 5/8”; approximately 8 grams Condition: Very Good. Free of damage, dents, repair. Abalone inlay intact and free of chips or areas of loss. Screw backs in good working order, move back, and forth freely. Clasp to brooch in good working order. Opens freely and closes securely. Fixed bale is secure and aligned. Signs of age, use, and wear including scratches, scuffs, patina. Pieces have been not been cleaned only lightly buffed to showcase detail and workmanship.
