Ronald Searle - Watercolor Satirical Illustration - Item/Description: Original satirical illustration by the celebrated British artist and caricaturist Ronald William Fordham Searle (English, 1920-2012) in his iconic artistic style of energetic, spiky fountain-pen linework mixed with delicate, atmospheric watercolor washes. Signed lower right. The classic British satire drawing captures an eccentric, elderly gentleman resting in an oversized wingback chair inside a grand, stately library, holding an antique ear trumpet up to his ear, his dog resting his head on the man's lap. Ronald Searle, the British cartoonist and caricaturist whose outlandishly witty illustrations for books, magazine covers, newspaper editorial pages and advertisements helped define postwar graphic humor.
