Charles (Karl) Haag (Swedish/American) Bronze Violinist - Item/Description: Bronze sculpture of a violin player with a child at her side by Karl (Charles) Oskar Haag (1867 - 1933). Signed copyright L'Esprit Protection / Roman Bronze Works NY. Haag, born in Norkopping, Sweden apprenticed to a potter and studied at the technical arts school in Gothenburg. He traveled to Switzerland and Paris and emigrated to New York in 1903. His sculptures frequently depict working people, and can be found among the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the American Swedish Historical Museum, Philadelphia, and Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois.
