1840 Campaign Silk Ribbon William H. Harrison - Item/Description: William Henry Harrison portrait campaign ribbon: Rochester, Harrison and Reform! New England Convention. Sept. 10, 1840. Features log cabin with American flag and eagle. William Henry Harrison was an American military officer and politician who served as the ninth president of the United States in 1841. He died of either typhoid, pneumonia, or paratyphoid fever 31 days into his term, becoming the first president to die in office and the shortest-serving president in U.S. history. Harrison was the first president to campaign actively for office. He did so with the slogan ”Tippecanoe and Tyler too.” He ran the The Log Cabin Campaign of 1840.
