S. Hilgle (20th Century) Portrait of a Gypsy Girl - Item/Description: Original painting of a young gypsy woman. Signed lower left. Hilgle is known as the mystery painter, as little is known about his identity. Hilgle's only subject appeared to be the Gypsy Woman. Some renderings depict her with dark hair, some with red. Hairstyles, clothes and jewelry differed as did her age, but the subject remained the same. It is believed that she was the artist's lover. This rendering is perhaps the youngest version.
